Wednesday Night Suppers are back!!!!

Plan to join us for good food, fellowship and inspirational messages Wednesday, FEBRUARY 26th!

Our Menu will be:

Fried Chicken, Baked Ham, Macaroni and Cheese, White Rice and Gravy, String Beans, Steamed Cabbage, Rolls, Assorted Desserts, Tea and Lemonade.

(Line opens at 5:45 pm – $7.00 per adult, $3.50 children, age 6 -16, children under 6 – free)

There will be a special called CHARGE CONFERENCE ON February 19th at 6 pm in the Sanctuary.

EPWORTH JOY

A time of worship and Christmas giving will be shared with our HAAS Buddies on Sunday, December 1st.  We will worship with the children of Epworth in their sweet chapel.  Afterwards we will treat our boys to lunch, followed by a time of gift giving.  We will leave the FLC parking lot at 8:30 am.  Make plans to join us to experience the true meaning of this glorious season.

FUMC BASKETBALL LEAGUE

It’s time to register for another great season of basketball.  For more information, download the attached application.  We are looking forward to a great season!

FALL FESTIVAL FUN!! Please join us on Wednesday, October 16th at 5:30 pm for an evening of food, fellowship & Fall Fun. A delicious Spaghetti supper and afterwards enjoy games for all ages compliments of The Crew!! No charge! No reservations! Feel free to invite others, especially others with children.  A love offering will be taken for our Epworth Christmas mission.

Wednesday Night Suppers will commence October 2nd at 5:45 pm in the FLC.  The cost is $5 per adult, $12 per family.  Sign up sheets will be placed in next Sunday’s bulletin.  These will be collected until 12 noon, Monday, September 30th. 

We are looking for a couple of volunteers to assist us with the decoration of the tables and other organizational tasks.  Contact the office for more information.

Our Haas Buddies would love to have FUMC friends to join them for the Bowling Bash on Saturday, October 5th.  We will leave the church parking lot at 9 am.  Bowling and lunch from 11:30 – 1:30.  Deadline to sign up to bowl is October 1st.  Call Fran — 843-439-0873.

EPWORTH CELEBRATION

Our Haas Buddies will soon be ending their 2018-19 school year.  As you can imagine, these guys have had to face many challenges as they strive their best to perform academically.  We will treat them to an End of the School Year Celebration to let them know their FUMC/Bennettsville Family applauds their efforts and successes.  Our Haas Buddies will be treated to a day of fun on Friday, June 7th at Plex Hi-Wire in the Sandhills Complex near Columbia.  Please contact Fran for more information.

Summer is almost here, and we are looking forward to some fun activities with the CREW!  We would also like to invite friends and any visiting grandchildren or other family members (should be entering 4K in the fall) to join us!

We will kick-off with an evening of water fun, games, and a cook-out in the FLC on Thursday, June 13th from 5 pm – 9 pm.  Wear your swimsuit, bring a towel and change of clothes, and join us for an evening of fun!!

Our annual Easter Egg Hunt will be held on Wed., April 10 at 3:30. Please meet in the Family Life Center with your basket, ready for an afternoon of fun and games!!   This is during our normal Crew meeting time, but we would love for visiting grandchildren and others who are not a part of The Crew to join us for the fun (ages 4 years old – 6th grade).  Hope to see you then!!

The ENERGETICS Bake Sale will be on Saturday, April 13, 2019.  This is the only fundraiser by the Energetics so they need lot of goodies to sell.  All of you good cooks in the Church—–be sure to bring your goodies to the Family Center prior to 9 am on April 13th.  The Bake Sale is the Saturday before Palm Sunday so you will be able to “stock up” for Easter.

The first Wednesday Night Supper will be February 6th with the last one April 10th.  If your family has a special meal that you would like to cook one Wednesday during March or April, please contact Chef Tommy Bostick or one of his crew:  Elaine Crow, Consulla Hamilton or Carolyn Wallace.

The price is still $4.00 per person ($10 family).  Please sign up in church on Sundays or contact the church office by 4 pm Monday afternoon so that the cooks will know how many to prepare for each week.  Plan now to attend these weekly gatherings with good food, good fellowship and and inspirational message.

THE MARION DISTRICT LEADERSHIP TRAINING

The Marion District Leadership Training will be held on Sunday, January 27, at the Marion High School in Marion.  This training will begin at 4:00 pm with a combined session for everyone.  It will be a presentation about the Special General Conference and the Way Forward.  All of the proposed legislation has now been made available, and the Judicial Council has issued its rulings prior to the actual conference.  This session will conclude about 4:45 pm.  We will have a break to allow people time to have some quick refreshments and make their way to their classes, which will begin at 5:00 pm.  Classes will have a break midway, and will finish by 7:00 pm.

MASTERWORKS 40TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

Christmas Concert

You are invited to attend the annual Christmas concerts of the Masterworks Choir to be performed Saturday, December 8 at 7 pm and Sunday, December 9 at 4 pm.  The concerts, held at Central United Methodist Church in downtown Florence, will feature Handel’s Baroque masterpiece Messiah.  The 72-voice choir will be joined by four guest soloists and a chamber orchestra of 20 instrumentalists.  There is no charge for admission and everyone is welcome to attend.  Don’t miss the first concert of the 40th anniversary season of the Masterworks Choir!

ANGEL TREE

As we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus, we also remember those who are less fortunate than us. The Angel Tree will be up with the names of children who need to receive joy and excitement for Christmas. You can make that happen by selecting a name or two and bringing that joy and excitement into the lives of these deserving children. Please consider this mission of FUMC and make a child happy!  All gifts should be brought to the Church by Wednesday, December 12th.

HARK the HERALD ANGELS SING!

Our CREW ANGELS have been asked to ride on THE FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH’s Christmas float in the Bennettsville Christmas Parade TUESDAY, DECEMBER 4TH.  Your child is asked to wear his/her GREEN CREW SHIRT OR RED VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL SHIRT (with a long sleeve shirt underneath if needed) and jeans.  If you cannot locate your child’s CREW or BIBLE SCHOOL shirt, we do have a few extra shirts.  Please see Christy King, Jennie Meggs, Ashley Kinard or Fran Lewis.

Parade time is 4:30 p.m.  We will give you notice of the time and where to drop off your child on parade day as soon as we receive our parade line up number from the city.  Pick up AFTER PARADE will be behind our church building.  These details will be clearly communicated to you nearer the date of the parade.

To participate in the memorable event, your child MUST have a permission slip completed, signed by his/her parent and returned to a CREW LEADER by WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 28TH!!

HOLY LAND TOUR

January 29 – February 7, 2019

Join FUMC’S Holy Land Tour to Israel! Dr. Johnston and Rev. Vance will be leading a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, the Sea of Galilee, Bethlehem and other exciting destinations in Israel. Join us as we visit the Western Wall for prayer, walk the Via Dolorosa, attend the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, stand upon the Mount of Olives, share communion at the Garden Tomb of Jesus and visit other sacred sites where the Bible comes alive! Our flight conveniently originates from and returns to Charlotte. We will stay in first class hotels and enjoy local cuisine.
