January 2022 – first united methodist church

Church Family, After much prayer, and ongoing conversations with our church leaders, dialog with S. C. Emergency Response personnel AND the SCDOT; We have made the difficult decision to NOT gather in person tomorrow Sunday, January 23, 2022 for Sunday School OR 11:00am worship. This decision is in keeping with John Wesley’s “3 Simple Rules to Live By”. 1. Do good. (Spend time with family, take time for study, reflection and dive into the Word of God, focus on self care, spend time in prayer and/or call a neighbor to remind he or she they are loved by God and also by you. 2. Do no harm. (By staying in we minimize the potential for dangerous situations and we also prevent harm. We are protecting ourselves and our neighbors from hazardous roadways and covid-19.)3. Stay in love with God. “Be still and know that I am God” (Psalm 46)Relax. Renew. And Revamp. Because…We are going to ROCK ON with our worship and Fellowship this upcoming Wednesday evening. First United Methodist Church of Bennettsville, SC will have NO in-person worship tomorrow (Sunday, January 16, 2022) due to the potential for severe weather. The Church Council, Board of Trustees and Finance Committee meetings are cancelled and will be rescheduled for a later date. We the people of 1st UMC press into our passion for making disciples for Jesus Christ for the love of God and transformation of the world. We will make a sermon available virtually. Should anyone have a pastoral need please do not hesitate to call me. If you have a need or an emergency we are here for you. Please call the church office and leave a message. As we continue to live by John Wesley’s 3 SimpleRules: 1. Do all the good you can as often as you are able. 2. Do no harm. 3. Stay in love with God. Though we are not gathering physically, our church has been DEPLOYED! May the mighty move of the Holy Spirit ignite our hearts, minds and souls with a renewed passion to help, love and serve others.
