Mrs. Betty Sue Frazier Newton passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020 at McLeod Hospice House in Florence, SC. She was 85 years old.

Mrs. Betty was born on February 17, 1935 in Statesville, NC, to the late Lonnie and Margaret Lelia Lentz Frazier. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Bennettsville. Mrs. Betty served as a schoolteacher of 42 years, pastor’s wife, and mother all across South Carolina, beginning in Darlington and ending in Conway. While teaching, her focus was primarily students with disabilities. She was Teacher of the Year in the local schools, and active in church, developing programs for childrens’ activities. Upon retirement she and her husband, Leon Newton, resided at the family farm for over 23 years.

She leaves behind to cherish her loving memory, husband, Rev. J. Leon Newton; son, David Hunter Newton; daughter, Susan Newton Graebe and husband Chris; grandchildren, Robin Hunter Newton and wife Paige, Bradley Carter Newton and wife Kari, Caroline Graebe, and William Graebe; great-grandchildren, Kaleigh Grace Newton, Blakeland Christopher Newton, and Fiona Newton.

The family will be holding private services to honor the memory of Mrs. Betty Sue Newton.
